July 7, 2013

Rudo, The Republic of Srpska

One year after the President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik and the owner of Comsar Energy Group Limited Rashid Sardarov reached an agreement on the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Mrsovo, municipality Rudo, extensive hydro-geological research began on the banks and in the bed of the river Lim where the future HE Mrsovo will be located.

Monitoring of research works is carried out by engineers of the Chinese company CPECC, which will, based on input parameters obtained from this research, make the Main design for the construction of HE Mrsovo.

"There are currently seven ground drilling rigs active and we believe that this first stage of works, on which designing of the hydroelectric power plant is going to be based, will be completed by the end of July.  The second stage of preparatory work will begin and it includes the construction of access roads and bridges" – stated a civil engineer from Comsar Energy, Dragan Čvoro, who notes that he is extremely pleased by the support from the municipality of Rudo so far.

The mayor of Rudo, Rato Rajak, said that these investments are very important for the future development of this small and underdeveloped municipality.

"Work on these projects has already revived Rudo and it represents momentum for future development of all economic sectors and life in the municipality. We have firm promises and an agreement that in the implementation of these projects local workers will be hired as much as possible and the hydroelectric power plant, upon its completion, will permanently employ about 70 workers."  He added that the reconstruction of the old "Rudo" hotel was just one of the benefits of building a large energy facility on the river Lim.

"The old building of the hotel is already half way through the reconstruction. It will employ at least 20 workers and it is going to be a tourist jewel of this area and will be included in all tourism plans of the municipality. We  expect that its offer will attract many tourists to the municipality of Rudo."

At the end of 2012, the company Comsar Energy has signed a concession contract for the construction and use of the hydroelectric power plant Mrsovo on the river Lim, in the municipality Rudo, with the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining of the Republic of Srpska. Soon after that the company purchased the Rudo hotel and immediately began work on the reconstruction.

In March 2013, the company Projekt a.d. Banja Luka, in charge of the development and presentation of urban planning and technical conditions, held a public debate in Rudo, where all details of the construction of the future HE Mrsovo were specified.

The same company will hold a public debate on the Study of environmental impact of the hydroelectric power plant Mrsovo, on 14th August 2013 in the Culture center in Rudo.

The hydroelectric power plant Mrsovo on the river Lim in the Republic of Srpska will be built 21 kilometers upstream from the confluence of the river into the river Drina.

The reservoir is going to be nine kilometers long, and the projected elevation point of the reservoir will be 355 meters, so the reservoir will not go into the village Sjeverin located on the territory of Serbia. The dam crest of HE Mrsovo will be 192 meters long and 21 meters high with a reservoir of about 10 million cubic meters of water.

It is planned that the construction of the hydroelectric power plant Mrsovo with installed capacity of 36.8 MW will take three years and about 100 million euros will be invested in it.
